Glove Box Light

You know the saying, “The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak”. Well, after months of wanting to do it, today I finally got down to actually doing it. Fixing my glove box light.

Items that you’d need :-

1. Glove box light.

2. Switch

3. Wires.

Removed the glove box. I also removed to front facia to make it easier to wire – up the light. Wiring was quite simple. For the power (+ve) I tapped from the cigarette lighter. And grounded it to the metal piece which holds the dashboard.

+ve taken from the grey colored wire.


Had to cut a bit to fit my light.


All in Place. Time to fix back everything.

Living At Pajam

Sorry Guys, this time, this post is not about my baby lion.

Most probably you found this page because you were looking for more information on the little town of Pajam, planning to shift here or settle down?

I’ve been living here for almost 2 years now. Overall, this is a nice quiet town to live in. But I wished there was info online or someone to speak to 3 years ago to help me decide on my house purchase here.

Here I list a few important factors you should know before deciding on your purchase.

1. The IBS system used to build the house does give excellent finishing. Nevertheless it has lots of drawbacks too. Many houses in my phase have walls which are not straight (dinding senget). In my house, a few walls are not straight. It’s quite hard to notice, but when you try to fix wall cabinets, picture frames, then you will definitely notice how crooked the walls are.

2. I have had 2 doors frames changed because they were also crooked, which cause the doors not to close properly. From what I gathered from talking to the workers, most houses have this problem because the developer rushed to build these houses. I received my house keys about 3 months ahead of schedule.

3. These walls are not flexible; hence after a month or two, it starts to crack. Although the developer repairs the crack every time a complaint is made, sadly, these repairs does not last long. And if the cracks are bad, water seeps thru whenever it rains. So for the past 2 years, I’ve been having never ending wall cracks and leaks.

4. House break-ins are very rampant in Pajam. Houses which are not in a guarded and gated community has had many break-ins. Google “pecah rumah pajam” and you’ll understand.

5. If you have school going children, there are only 2 schools in Pajam, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (T) Tun Sambanthan, and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Kampong Baru Pajam. I’m not sure if there are any plans to build any new schools around here. You’ll have to look at either Nilai or Mantin for alternatives.

6. There’s a rubbish dump(tempat pelupusan sampah) at Pajam town. 3 years ago when I decided to buy a house here, the developer assured me that this rubbish dump would be closed down soon. Now 3 years later and it is still there. To locate it, drive pass Pajam town, heading towards Mantin. You’ll come to College Heights. Landmark is some white colour shop houses on the left. To the right you’ll see a row of old single storey shops. The rubbish dump is located behind these shops. Almost every other night, there will be a horrible stench in the air. It is much worse when it rains. It’s so bad that when the smell comes I would have to run and close all my doors and windows. Sometimes the smell would come in the middle of the night, waking me up from my sleep. This problem is very bad and its solution does not seem near. I had no choice but to aircond the whole house so that we would be able to get a good night’s sleep without waking up in the middle of the night to this horrible smell. Part of the rubbish dump has been covered and converted to harvest biogas. I still have no idea when this rubbish dump will be closed for good, because for now there are still rubbish trucks dumping there. Google “pencemaran udara Pajam” & “bau busuk Pajam” for more info.

7. Mobile phone coverage is poor in this area. Forget about using mobile broadband in the house. Because of the concrete structure used to build the house, Mobile signal is very poor in at the ground floor. Around the dining area onwards, there’s no mobile coverage in the house. This forced me to get a fixed line for safety reasons. Mobile coverage at the first floor is ok.

8. KL is situated roughly 40kms away. Toll will cost you RM2.80(Pajam-Kajang), RM0.90(Bt.11 toll) and RM1(Bt.9 toll). On average, including jam, it will take 1 – ½ hours in the morning to get to KL (golden triangle area). Getting home from KL will take about 1hour or less by using Jalan Loke Yew to get back. Without Jam, it will take 30 – 45mins to get to KL, depending how fast you travel. Travelling to Putrajaya/Cyberjaya will take roughly the same time, toll free, driving thru Nilai à Dengkil à CyberjayaàPutrajaya.

9. If you wish to commute by train, either use the KTM Kommuter @ Batang Benar station or the ERL @ Salak Tinggi. The Batang Benar station is about 5minutes from Pajam and the Salak Tinggi Station is about 15 – 20 minutes away.

Timing Belt, Really that expensive?

This post is specifically for the TU3 engine found in the Naza Bestari 1.4.

Last month it was time for me to change my timing belt. Prices at the service center was ridiculously high . I went on the hunt to find a cheaper solution. I'll keep this post short and simple so that it will be easy to understand.


This is the size of the belt, 58104 x 17mm. This size is the same as used on the Proton Tiara 1.1. Price rages from RM60 to RM80 depending on the belt's quality/brand. The best you can get is from Gates.

TU3 engines commonly uses this size, 58108 x 17mm. Do not buy this, as it will NOT fit the Bestari.

Next are the oil seals, which are the same as the tiara. Cost RM8 to RM15 each, depending on quality.

Then there is the option of changing your water pump. Changing this depends on the mileage you cover yearly. I'd recomend a change if you've negleted your coolant change and your coolant looks rusty/dirty. I did not change mine. So i can't confirm 100% if the water pump on the Tiara and Bestari is the same. It should be but I can't say for sure. This is how the water on the tiara looks like. Price ranges RM100 - RM120.

Sadly, the timing belt bearing/tensioner on the Tiara and Bestari is different. Here's how it looks like

This is the tensioner bearing used on the tiara. It costs between RM60 - RM80. Its possible to use this on the Bestari, but you'll need to change the stud which holds the bearing in place.

Finally you'll have to get your trusted mechanic to fix it all up. Outside mechanic would charge RM80 to RM100 to change the timing belt.

Water In Air Filter Assembly

Problem : Water in the Air Resonator and Air Intake
Symptom : Engine dies off while driving. Difficult to restart engine. Lots of white smoke from exhaust pipe once car is restarted.
Cause : Broken Clip on the Air Resonator
Duration of Repair : 2 Hours

I think the clip broke after I drove over a speed bump and the bottom of the car hit it. Even though I went over it slowly, I guess it damaged the air resonator clip.

When the clip broke, the air resonator tilted causing it to dislodge from the air intake pipe. Lots of water got into my air filter. It was dripping wet when I took it out. Here you can see the amount of water in the air filter hose

Even the original sealant that was used to seal the air resonator together was leaking. My mechanic took out the whole air filter assembly. He modified the clip and resealed the whole assembly using silicone glue.

Here's the clip that broke. After fixing the clip, Hassan (my ultra cool mechanic) tested the sealant of the resonator by using pressurized air blown into the air resonator. Residue water left in the resonator was coming out thru the sealant.

That's when Hassan decided to seal up the whole assemble with silicone. All done and drying under the sun.

All fixed and good to go.

Here is where it got dislodged

After testing the car for 3 days, driving in the rain, All is good. If you've driven over a curb or speed hump and the LEFT FRONT ( PASSENGER SIDE ) has hit the road, I would strongly advise you to have your air filter assembly checked.

Driving Thru A Flooded Area

IMPORTANT : As mush as possible, please try not to drive thru a flooded area. You won’t be able to gauge how deep the water is from sitting inside your car. This is only a rough guide if you find yourself suddenly in deep waters.
Its now the monsoon season again. With the many road works going around in KL flash floods are bound to happen. And you might find yourself cought unexpectedly on a road which is flooded. This is what I do whenever I find myself in this type of situation.
1. Don’t Panic.
2. Look at the road curb, road divider, lamp post or any other objects which would be able to give u a rough idea of how high the water is. If you don’t feel confident, do not proceed.
3. Shift the car into 1st gear( tip- tronic mode if you’re driving an auto)
4. Say a short prayer.
5. If there's a vehicle infront of you, let it clear the flood too. You wouldn't want to end up behind him if his car stalls
6. Go into the flood slowly, to create a bow wave. For the 206 its about 15km/h to 20km/h.
7. Sit up right and you should be able to see the bow wave in-front of the car.
8. Adjust your vehicle speed accordingly so that you do not overtake the bow wave. Don’t let the bow wave get away from you either.
9. Once you’ve cleared the flood, don’t forget to thank God and smile. IF your car stalls in the flood, my sympathy is with you.

These 2 pictures are examples of a bow wave. As you can see, the water level infront of the vehicle/ the water level of the bow wave is much higher compared with the water level behind the bow wave. Imagine you’re in a bathtub. Then push your palm across the water. You’ll notice that the water level in-front of your palm is higher than the water level at the back of your palm. The same concept applies here. When you drive into the flood slowly, you’re using the car’s front bumper to create the bow wave. It pushes the water away, thus lowering the water level from the engine bay onwards.

Why Not to Remove The Naza Logo from The Steering Wheel

The mother of all conversions. Removing the Ugly round Naza logo from the steering wheel. I always wondered why warranty would be void if the logo is removed and now i think i know why...look closely at the photo below. This is how the steering wheel looks like with the logo removed.

As you can see, the air bag is exposed once the logo is removed.I believe that Nasim/ Peugeot are afraid that once we remove the logo and with the air bag exposed, we might do something that will cause the air bag to malfunction. Example, if let say we use super glue or some kind of other adhesive to stick on the lion logo on the steering wheel, we might "contaminate" the air bag. Hence I'm sure Nasim/Peugeot would not want to bear any responsibility.

So, I would advice not to remove the logo unless you really know what you are doing. Otherwise be willing to spend and do a proper conversion by changing the whole steering wheel.

Rust proffing The Hub Assembly

I believe most 206B delivered recently has this problem. The rust you see is due to the hub assembly being made from cast iron which rust easily. Its such a shame that NAZA/Peugeot did nothing to coat this part properly prevent this from happening during assembly.

I did plan to go to BB Glemarie to ask them to fix this for me, but just the though of going all the way there, then to haggle/argue with them over this problem, dah make me tired. So I decided to DIY as usual.

First, jack the car up, secure it on jack stands and remove the tyre. It would most probably be very difficult for the tyre to come off because of the rust. Use your hands/mallet and hit the tyre as hard as you can, the top then the bottom, the left and right until it loosens up. You know, i only managed to remove my left hand side tyre. for the right hand side tyre, I had to go to a tyre shop and ask them to remove the tyre. They too had a hard time removing the tyre. Then I applied grease to affected area of the rim and fix the tire back. Went back home and continued my DIY project.

Next wash off the rust using a wire brush or steel wool and leave it to dry.

Once it has dried, apply some rust converter. I used this which is available at most hardware shops. After the rust converter has worked its magic, paint over the affected area with anti-rust paint.

When the paint is dry, re fit your tyre and pat yourself for a job well done :-)

Getting Your Head Lamps Crystal Clear

Hopefully with this small DIY guide, you will be able to have crystal clear headlamps for your new 206.

I wasn't happy at all with my headlights when I got my car from the Showroom. They were dull looking. The sales man told me that it was normal for the headlamps to look that way, And worst of all, water vapor was condensing inside of the headlamps. I of course, disagreed.

Fisrt I went to BlueBox at Glenmarie to get a free replacement for both sides of my headlamps. Unfortunately these new lamps had the same water condensation problem. But since it was brandnew, I decided to do some DIY to water seal the head lamps. Basically what you need to do is to take both headlamps out and reseal the edges with clear silicone or any other type of sealant

First remove the front grill. Do this by removing the 4 clips and 2 screws attached to the front grill.

Next run your fingers under the grill to the edge and pull the edge out. The grill is attached using clips at the edges

Once you have taken out the grill, next is to remove the headlamp which is secured by 3 10mm bolts(as shown in the pictures below). Remove these 3 botls and pull the lamp out. After you've pulled out the headlamp, you'll have to disconnect the wiring too.

After removing both lamps, use silicone sealant or any other type of sealant and re-seal the edges of the lamp( top and bottom). Once the sealant is dry (use a hairdryer to dry it faster) re-fit your headlights.
